Bodega Bay Marine Laboratory - UC Davis: June 2004 - Aug 2005
Field studies, workshops, and discussions that encompass the diverse array of northern California coastal habitats, from exposed rocky intertidal shores and sandy beaches to protected mudflats and coastal prairies. Conducted research on the distribution of copepods - Tigriopus Californicus - at high intertidal tidepools.
Experimental Ecology Research Project - UC Davis: January 2005 - June 2005
Six months field ecology experiment examining the effects of herbivores on native versus non-native vegetation in high fertility and low fertility zones. Critical skills learned include the SAS software for data analysis, techniques for maintaining proper experimental-control, methods of accurate data collection, key issues of experimental design, and writing research papers.
Horwath Soil Biology Lab - UC Davis: Aug 2004 - June 2005
Sieved soil samples collected from field sites, centrifuged soil samples to separate nutrients, and filtered soil samples to collect nutrients. Recorded and compiled experimental data for processing.

Classified and cataloged eelgrass core samples under light microscope.

Collected water samples, following written SOP, from pre-selected creeks surrounding the central valley, during the winter storm season. Delivered water samples to various labs for chemical analysis. Entered field data sheets into SWAMP database. Picked various invertebrates, for future identification, from stream sediment samples using light microscope.
